Busy Bee
First of all, as you can see I’m still not set up in my office quite yet. For whatever reason I just haven’t gotten to it. Perhaps it was the various leaks or the filthy basement that come with a house that hasn’t been lived in for 16+ years that have grabbed my attention…yeah, probably that. And more.
Christmas came and went as did New Years with little in the way of my stopping to smell the roses. It was the last Christmas in the house I grew up in so that was in the front of my mind the entire time. Obviously that is its own post, and it will be soon. That said I can’t really recall anything right now that stood out about it. Perhaps I am/was blocking the weight of the event so I wouldn’t fell so…overwhelmed?
The new house is clean (save for the afore mentioned office) and quite comfortable. Granted, it’s a bit drafty but that is to be expected in a 110 year old house. Thus far my wife and I have been focusing on the inside, but when the spring comes I’ll take care of the outside. I have plans for a flowerbed and some paving stones…not that I know anything about them! Luckily my cable provider has DIY Network and I’ve been watching it nonstop since we moved it!
My daughter turned seven on the 3rd. Seven?! I honestly don’t know where the time went. She’s grown into a bright, energetic and adorable little lady. I look at her and wonder where she came from. I remember holding a baby girl and naming her Zoe Jane Catherine…I recall her starting to walk. Then…well, I blinked and now she’s seven! I don’t even want to think about the fact that my son is going to be seven one day!
Speaking of Jackson – he’s given us a bit to brag about lately as well. The other day we had some folks from the state of Illinois human resources office come to evaluate him due to his lack of using words at just over 26 months. Long story short, he tested at a 30 month level on everything but the verbal! We’ve always thought he was smart but it’s nice when the government can back you up on it! (Side note: this speech therapy is going to fascinate me! I double majored in college and one of them was early childhood studies, so this is right up my ally. I’m really looking forward to learning a few things myself…)
Well, that about catches up on most of the big things that have happened. I’m hoping to have my desk at least clear by the weekend so I can get my butt in front of a typewriter again! It’s been far too long!
